Composer, lute player (B. 21 September 1900, Silivri – D. 24 February 1977, Istanbul). He was raised in an environment which was closely interested in music. His father played lute, his uncle and brother kemençe (T.N. a small three-stringed violin). He started at a young age to play lude and appeared in musical sessions starting from the age of twelve. He quit his education in Saint Benoit French High School in order to devote himself to music. When he was fifteen he was known as “Udî Yorgo”. He started to make compositions at the age of twenty. In 1928 he completed his first record in Berlin and accompanied Denizkızı Eftelya Hanım in her concert in Paris.

Bacanos played the oud with a special technique, which made clear and brilliant sounds possible. He became famous with this new technique. In 1946 he joined the Turkish Music Performers Group of Istanbul Municipality Conservatory and continued his duty until his retirement in 1967.
