Journalist-writer (B. February 22, 1926, Burhaniye /
Balikesir – D. February 27, 2004, Giessen, Germany). He is the son of Former
Konya Governor Cemal Bardakçı, and father of journalist-writer Murat Bardakçı.
He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Law. He began with his
journalism career in 1948. He worked at several departments of Yeni Sabah,
Milliyet, Havadis and Cumhuriyet newspapers. His interview published in 1956 by experiencing the
Hungarian Revolution received several awards at national and international
levels. He taught Comparative States, Ideologies and Regimes lecture at Ankara
Gazi University, Vocational School of Press. Bardakçı received law training in
France; he lived in this country for long years and became the chief redactor
in a French newspaper.
He was known as a historian and he wrote articles with
the pseudonym İlhan Murad for long years. In 1985, he was put on trial with the
accusation of selling information and documents about Turkey to Iraq and Libya
and he was sentenced for fifteen years. He escaped to Germany he died from
renal impairment at Giessen University Hospital while he was receiving dialysis
treatment.
