Writer, lexicographer. (B. 1926, Akhisar / Manisa – D. November 5, 2009, Istanbul). She completed primary and secondary school in Akhisar, and high school at Izmir Karataş High School (1943). She graduated from Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature with the thesis “Vecihî Çelebi Divânı“ (1949). She worked as a Turkish and literature teacher at Anarathigutyan Armenian Secondary School, Zografyan Greek High School, Saint Joseph and Saint Michel French high schools and Çapa Education Institute. She quit being a teacher in 1960. When her husband Profesional Architect-Engineer Dr.Ekrem Akverdi started to search Ottoman architect since Osman Gazi to Fatih era they travelled whole country together.

She contributed to the studies of her husband. She was engaged in civil society organizations such as Istanbul Association of Conquest, Turkish Women Culture Association and Kubbealtı Academy Culture and Arts Foundation. Her articles were mostly published at Kubbealtı magazine. She has started to work on her project Misâlli Büyük Türkçe Sözlük in 1976 and published it in 2005 as three volumes. She won 2005 Language Award of TYB with her work.
