Storywriter (b. 1945, Ankara). She attended the İstanbul English Elementary School for Girls and Arnavutköy American College for Girls. She left her studies at İstanbul University, Faculty of Law at the last grade and settled in Ankara. She worked as a translator at the Ministry of Tourism and Promotion (1965-68). She had twin daughters, thus she gave up her professional life and dedicated herself to writing. She gave lectures on Creative Literature at Iowa University as a guest lecturer (1977) and worked as a columnist in the newspapers Güneş and Cumhuriyet for two years. She wrote plays and prepared programs for radios and televisions at home and abroad. She was also the member of the Party Assembly at the 4th term of Republican People’s Party.

Her first short stories appeared in Varlık when she was at the elementary school, and in Türk Dili, Varlık, Oluşum, Yazko Edebiyat at high school. Recently, she has focused on writing novels. Her stories have been translated into English, French, German, Italian, Czech, Urdu and Indian. She received the Haldun Taner Short Story Award in 1988 with Yoldan Geçen Öyküler (Stories Passing by the Road) and the Yunus Nadi Novel Award in 2002 with Aşkı Giyinen Adam (The Man Wearing Love).
