Writer and critic (b. 1914, İstanbul
– d. 5 May 1953, Ankara). He also used M. Ö. Engin as a pen name. He graduated
from İstanbul Kabataş High School for Boys (1932), Cambridge University,
Department of English Language and Literature in the United Kingdom (1936).
When he returned to Turkey, he entered Ankara University, Faculty of Language
History and Geography as a research assistant. There he became associate
professor and professor.
His
articles, essays, reviews and translations were published in the reviews Yücel
and Ufuklar, which he founded in 1937. After his death, selected works
of his published articles were collected in the book Denemeler-Eleştiriler (Essays-Reviews).
Also most of his translations were published.
