Ekonomist. Trabzon doğumlu. Doktorasını Massachusetts Üniversitesinde Ekonomi Bölümünde (1996) tamamladı. Viyana Üniversitesinde (1995-97) ve Fatih Üniversitesinde (1997- 2000) yardımcı doçent, Fatih Üniversitesinde dekan yardımcısı (2000-2002) ve bölüm başkanı (2003-) olarak çalıştı.
Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kara, İstanbul Ticaret Üniversitesi öğretim üyesi olarak çalışmalarını sürdürmektedir.
