Kabaç Hatun

Queen of Bukhara. She lived in 7th century. According to some historians, her real name is Kabac Hatun. This Turkish lady was the Queen of Bukhara during the first Islamic raids, as her husband Beydun passed away, representing her baby son Tugsad (672). Historians have said that Kınık Hatun was an authoritarian female, and after she became the queen, she controlled the local government of Bukhara and did her best in order to provide the wealth and peace of people. To do that, she was listening complaints of people, punishing guilty ones, expelled the ones she considered necessary and re-assigned new ones each morning in front of the gate named "Alaattin gate". In the afternoon, she sat on her throne; accepted the presence of important people of the city, the representatives of local people named as "dikhan"s; had conversations with them and consulted. Most of the time, these meetings lasted until evening.

But, as Muslim Arabs have invaded the whole Khorasan and started to make raids into the Ceyhun basin; things have started to change.

Kabac (Kınık) Hatun has made a deal with other Turkish chiefdoms when the Islamic armies have encircled Bukhara (673) and made an agreement with Ubeydullah in return for two thousand Bukharan Turkish young soldiers who were good in riding horses and bowing. Ubeydullah brough those Bukharan young soldiers to Basra and setlled them into the district later known as District of Turkish Bukharans.

According to the report od Narsahin, Kınık Hatun's post as Bukharan Queen lasted for fifteen years and she died sometime around 690. Kınık Hatun is known as a Turkish Queen with strong administrative personality, having a logical skill to deal with the problems.
