Novelist
and storywriter (b. 2 December 1959, Kırıkkale). He received his primary and
elementary education in his country. He graduated from Hacettepe University,
Faculty of Social and Administrative Sciences, Department of Turkish Language
and Literature (1983). He completed his graduate program in 1985 at Gazi
University, Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and
Literature. His graduate thesis was “Mehmet
Vecihî Bey'in Eserlerinde Fiktif Yapı” (The Fictive Structure in the Works
of Mehmet Vecihi Bey). He completed his doctorate in 1989 at Selçuk University,
Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature.
His doctorate thesis was “Peyami Safa
İmzalı Romanlarda Fiktif Yapı” (The Fictive Structure in the Novels of
Peyami Safa). He worked as a lecturer (1983-1990) at Hacettepe University,
Faculty of Literature, Directorate of Organization of Turkish Lectures. In
1990, he was appointed as an associate professor at Gazi University, Faculty of
Arts and Science, Department of Turkish Language and Literature and later was
appointed as the assistant-director of the same department.
He
has published his articles in the reviews Divan,
Töre, Millî Eğitim, Nilüfer, Türk Kültürü, İlk Yaz, Bilig, Yedi İklim, Türk
Yurdu, Son Duvar, Irmak and Edebiyat
Güncesi since 1979. He won the Turkey Union of Writers Novel Award with his
novel Efsane (Legend) in 1999.
