Poet (b. 1912, Diyarbakır – d. 5
December 1974, İzmir). He finished his primary education in Diyarbakır. He
graduated from Elazığ Primary Teacher Training School (1930). He taught at high
schools in İzmir and also at various primary schools for a while. He passed
exams with distinction in 1937 and was appointed to İzmir High School for Boys.
He retired while he was a literature teacher at İzmir High School and İzmir
Institute of Advanced Islam in 1963.
His interest began in poetry with the folk
poets who met at his uncle’s house in Diyarbakır. He listened with admiration
to poets who made their hearts talk with their musical instruments and was
given the opportunity to feel and love the warmth of the folk poetry style. He
was known for his poems published in reviews such as Bağ, Fikirler and
his stories in Yeni Asır newspaper and his poems set to music such as Bir
Bahar Akşamı (A Spring Evening). His work Mevlana’dan Rubailer
(Rubai*s of Mevlana) was not published.
