Art history researcher. He was born in April 18, 1945, in Istanbul. He was graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Literature Art History Department (1969). He completed his PhD. with the thesis titled ““Anadolu’da Artuklu Devri Türk Mimarisi’nin Gelişmesi” (1972). In 1982, he became associate professor with his work titled ““Kütahya’nın Türk Devri Mimarisi” and in 1989 he became professor with his work titled “Ortaçağ Türk Mimarisinin Anahatları”. He was department head of Faculty of Literature Art History Department and at the same time department head of Istanbul University Rectorate Fine Arts Department.

His articles were published in Arkitekt, Vakıflar Dergisi, Atatürk Üniversitesi Edebiyat Fakültesi Araştırma Dergisi, Arkeoloji ve Sanat, Türk Kültürü Araştırmaları, Arredamento / Dekorasyon, Hürriyet / Gösterï, Sanat Tarihi Araştırmaları, Kültür Dünyası, Antik ve Dekor, Seramik Türkiye magazines and in Sanat Tarihi Yıllığı, Ttok Belleteni, Kahramanmaraş books. He also hav some copyright subjects in Meydan Larousse, Büyük Ansiklopedi ve Lügat and TDV İslâm Ansiklopedisi, Eczacıbaşı Sanat Ansiklopedisi. He wrote many chapters for books about architecture and art history. He submitted papers and excavation results to many scientific meetings in domestic and foreign organizations. He has been the advisor of several theses. He was in the general consultative committee of Türk Dünyası Kültür Atlası.
