Poet and writer (b. 1921, Malatya – d.
25 July 2004). He did not attend any state school after primary school but
educated himself. He married when he was eighteen. He was recruited to three
and a half years in the military service in 1940 and served in Bandırma. After
he completed his military service, he opened a tailor’s shop with a loan in
Malatya where he was involved with art and his business. He held many
conferences in various cities and districts in Turkey and in England and Germany
during the foundation years of Great East Association and thereafter. He
attracted attention with the originality of his thoughts that he expressed in
his works.
His poetry and articles were published
in reviews and newspapers such as Ehl-i
Sünnet, Toprak, Büyük Doğu, Türk Ruhu, Türk Düşüncesi, Yeni İstiklal,
Sebilürreşad, Tohum, Hürsöz, Uduk, Kriter, Selam, Oku, Toprak, Diriliş,
Edebiyat Alemi, Babıalide Sabah, Hizmet, Malatya'dan Ses, Serdengeçti, Vahdet (Ankara),
Panel, Türk Edebiyatı, Kitap Dergisi and Hak Söz. He established the review Kervan Edebiyat Dergisi with Şemsi Belli in 1948- 1949. He came
first at the competition for research held by the review Yeni İstiklal and he received the 1958 Best Work Award from the
review İslâm with his work İnsanlık Anlayışımız (Our Humanity
Comprehension). He came second at the competition held by the newspaper Yeni Asya with his work Eğitim Raporu (Education Report). He is
one of the notable Islamic intellectuals of the Republic period. He was one of
the founders of the Malatya Thought Club.
