Researcher-writer (b. 1899, İstanbul - d. 1968). He graduated from İstanbul Law School (1926). He started his academic career as an assistant in the same faculty (1937); completed his doctorate at the same place; and became associate professor in 1939 and professor in 1946. Baysun, who became an ordinary professor in 1960, was the founder of İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature’s History Review and worked as a delegate member and a director at the Institute of Turcology Research and at TDV İslâm Ansiklopedisi (The Turkish Foundation for Religious Affairs' Islamic Encyclopedia, 1950-51)
