Writer (b. 8 October 1961, Karataş / Sivas). He used
the names of A. Turan Karataş and Ahmet Turan Karataş. He attended Ulaş Primary
School (1974), Sivas İmam Hatip High School and Atatürk University Faculty of
Science and Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1986).
He worked as a journalist from the time he was a faculty student until 1987. In
the same year he stopped working as a journalist and was appointed as a Turkish
Language lecturer at Atatürk University. Here he completed his postgraduate
study on Hüseyin Siret (1989) and his doctorate on Sezai Karakoç (1994). Then
in 1994 he started studying at Gaziosmanpaşa University. He is still at Tokat
Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Science and Literature, Department of Turkish
Language and Literature as a lecturer (assistant professor). He is a member of
the Writers Union of Turkey.
His first research was published
in the literature magazine Mina which
was published in 1989 in Erzurum; in the following years his research, essays
and diaries were published in the magazines Mina,
Karçiçeği Palandöken, Yedi İklim, Kültür, Kayıtlar, Türk Dili, Edebiyat Ortamı,
Dergâh, Hece, Kafdağı and Bilig. With his work named Rüyalarımızın Sarışın Buğdayı (Golden
Wheat of Our Dreams), he received the Writers Union of Turkey Children’s Literature
Award in 1997.
