Journalist and writer (b. 1962, Yusufeli / Artvin). He
attended Bostancı Primary School, Sarıgöl
Primary School, Yusufeli
High School and graduated from Ankara University,
Faculty of Theology. He did his undergraduate degree on Hadis* studies. He
worked as the correspondent of foreign news in the reviews İslâm (1985-88) and Altınoluk
and as the editor of Erkam
Publications. In the same period, he supervised the culture department of the
newspaper Vahdet of which he became
the chief of the board of editors and
wrote articles about Islam (October 1996-October 2000, 48 issues).
Various articles by Ahmet Varol, who is an expert on
Palestinian issues, have been published weekly in the newspaper Akit, in the weekly reviews Cuma
and es-Sebil (Jordan) and in
the monthly review Ribat. The other reviews and newspapers he has
written for are: Bursa Marmara (1984), İslâm (1985-89), İlim ve Sanat (1986-), Gülçocuk, Vahdet (1988-89), Altınoluk (1988-89), Millî Gazete (1986-89), Mektup, Kadın ve
Aile, Yeni Şafak, Yeni Dünya. He
is a member of the Writers Association of Turkey, the Palestine Fidelity and
Fraternity Association (founder), the Davet Foundation (founder) and the North
Iraq Fidelity Foundation. There is a similarity in name with Ahmet Varol, whose
news and interviews feature in the newspaper Zaman; they are however,
different persons.
