Hafız Hüseyin

Biography writer. (B. ?, Ayvansaray/Istanbul- D. 1787, Istanbul). He was a member of Janissary Class.  He was the Baltacılar chamberlain. He has recorded the mosques, small mosques, lodges and their epitaphs, the names of those who have built them along with extensions of mosques and the poems about epitaphs. He has also written works which mentioned the fires in Istanbul, and items such as tobacco and coffee. He has written the biographies of famous Sufis, poet Ottoman Sultans, statesmen, some scholars and poets. It is being told that he compiled several müstezads from different Divans and prepared a work named Eş‘ârnâme-i Müstezâd and also compiled the dispersed poets of Asik Ömer in the order of a Divan.

Derin - Vahit Çabuk, 1895), Vefeyât (Biographies of some poets and poet Ottoman Sultans), Vefeyât-ı Selâtin Meşâhir-i Rical (Biographies of Ottoman Sultans and grand viziers and viziers and governors).
