Poet and writer (b. 1935 Kadirli / Adana - d. 24 June 2008, Ankara). He attended primary and elementary school in Kadirli. He had had to give up his studies because of illness while he was at Mersin High School (1952). He worked in various jobs as a reviewer, redactor and publishing house editor. After his enterprises, Çevre Publications (1959) and a weekly newspaper Karacaoğlan (Kadirli, 1960), he started to work at the Turkish Language Association and was working there when he officially retired (1960-83). Afterwards he continued working as a freelance author.

His first poem that he deemed as the starting point of his literary career was published in the review Kaynak (Ankara, June 1951). His poems were also published in reviews such as Türk Dili, Varlık, Türk Sanatı, Hisar, Türk Düşüncesi, İstanbul, Yeditepe and Yenilik. Subsequently he wrote especially for Varlık and Türk Dili, reviews such as Değişim, Dost, Dönem and Papirüs (in its Ankara era). His poems were published in the art pages of newspapers such as Akşam, Cumhuriyet and Ulus. Beginning in 1963, he assisted on the radio productions Kitap Saati, Özdilimiz and Söylev for the Turkish Radio Corporation. He edited the art and literature pages of the newspaper Ulus for a year (1970-71). He published a monthly poetry review called Yusufçuk (January 1970- December 1980, 24 issues). He worked on the newspaper Hürgün (1985) for a time and then he undertook the job of editor-in- chief of the review Çağdaş Türk Dili (1988). He won the Turkish Language Association Children’s Literature Award in 1981 with Nasrettin Hoca (Nasreddin Hoca) which he wrote in poem form and the 1983 Toprak Poetry Award with his poetry book, Gül Sevgili Yurdum (Smile My Beloved Country). Some of his poems have been translated into English, Arabian, Russian, Serbian, Croatian and Swedish.
