Writer and critic (b.
12 February 1948, İstanbul). She is the daughter of art historian Nazan
İpşiroğlu and philosopher Mazhar Şevket İpşiroğlu and relative of writer Müfide
Tek and statesman Ferit Tek. She graduated from Austria Private High School
(1967) and Istanbul University, Faculty of German Philology (1971).
Furthermore, she studied in Freiburg and Berlin Universities, Departments of
German Language and Literature and Philosophy. She became professor completing
her academic career.
She worked as lecturar
in İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature from 1976. She founded and
directed the Main Branch of Dramaturgy and Theatre Critics at the same
university in 1992. She has still been living in Koln (Germany) with her writer
and critic husband Norbert Mecklenburg. She is a member of the Association in
Support of Contemporary Living and Writers Syndicate of Turkey.
She
received the first rank in 1977 Milliyet Sanat Film Story Competition with Murat (Murat), the first rank in Milliyet Sanat Literature Critique
Competition with Gece (Night), the 1992 Ministry of Culture
Research Study Award with Tiyatroda
Devrim (Revolution in Theatre) and
the third rank in the 1997 Orhan Kemal Short Story Competition with Gergedan Oyunu (Play of Rhino).
