POEMS
LOVE ME BACK
JUST LIKE THAT, IF YOU WILL
I
loved you in all the ways you’ve been
Love
me back just the way I am
Loved
you so much despite your wrongdoings
Love
me back just like that, if you will
It’s
impossible that you change, I loved that heart,
Anyway,
you cannot be someone else
Aren’t
great joys transient?
Love
me back just like that, if you will

EVERYTHING IS A
PIECE OF MEMORY OF YOU
Your
illusion is always there looking at me
Your
smile, at each crinkle of your lip
The
blow of the wind, at each strand of your hair
Everything
is a piece of memory of you
Trace
of your lip, still there at the tip of the cup
All
of them, still at my memory
Where
you left them on the same end table
Everything
is a piece of memory of you
The
gardenia you loved is still in the vase
It
looks at me blissfully as if you do
In
an instant, my room is filled with your odour
Everything
is a piece of memory of you

RETIRED MY HEART
Love
is far far away,
I
realized that.
At
the trap that I reckoned love,
Burned
up I for years.
Spent
my entire life in sorrow,
Hard
to live this way.
The
departer chose the way,
My
heart still occupied.
Left
without love and water,
My
love rose withered soon.
Existing
in this world,
Every
grief happened upon me.
Falling
into trouble and grief
Worn
out I, day after day
Far
far away from love
Retired
I, my heart.

IS IT A LIE THAT
I LOVED YOU?
You
said you loved me
Is
it a lie that I loved you?
Is
it all lie, all pretence?
Is
it a lie that I loved you?
You
said you would come,
I
waited long with hope.
Is
it all lie, all pretence?
Is
it a lie that I loved you?
How
in blue blazes you left,
You
gave up our love.
Is
it all lie, all pretence?
Is
it a lie that I loved you?

INTERVIEWS
“LIFE IS A STAGE AND WE ARE ALL PERFORMERS. IF
A PERSON ACTS WELL AND BE APPLAUDED AFTER THE CURTAIN IS CLOSED, THAT’S THE POINT.
WHAT I MEAN BY BEING APPLAUDED IS WHAT WE HAVE BY DOING GOOD DEEDS, AND WHAT WE
LEAVE BEHIND US”. Semra İPLİKÇİ
Dear readers, the
interview guest of this week is Educator, Poet, Author, Lyricist and Presenter
Semra İPLİKÇİ. We talked about her life, her works, writing and what we leave
behind in our lives. I hope that you enjoy this interview.
Celalettin TUTKUN: Thanks
for accepting our invitation for interview Mrs İplikci. First, for our readers, I’d like to ask: Who
is Semra İPLİKÇİ?
Semra İPLİKÇİ, after
giving information about her biography, answered the questions given below.
Why did Semra İPLİKÇİ feel
the necessity to write?
My
first interest in writing started at the third class of the primary school with
the reading passages entitled “To Sit Up Straight, to See and to Look”. I
learned how to sit up straight and to see while looking. When I was at the secondary
school, we, as literature club of the school, started to publish the journal
named Our Voice, in which my poems and writings were also published.
After that I improved my ability to empathise; I tried to understand people by
empathising with them. I realized that every experience is like each other in
one or another way. I also had some difficult experiences in life but at every
circumstance my pen was always with me. I shared my pain, sorrow and joy with
my pen and paper. Against all the hardships in life, I chose to share
everything with them. I chose my pen, not any other thing. As French writer
Jean Paul Sartre puts it “Life is comprised of our choices”.
How do you feel while
writing?
Writing
is some kind of love for me.
When
I write, my pen, like a conductor at an orchestra, always accompanies me as if
accompanying a concerto of universe. Sometimes becoming a brush on the canvas,
it touches the colours of nature. It sometimes becoming a hail of love, fills
our soul; and sometimes turning to the sun, warms us. Sometimes a nice breeze,
sometimes a hand of a friend on our back. And this friendly hand of the pen
touching me, has always been with me and whispered to my paper. And I listened
to those whispers. We have now become a tune, then an inner voice. And I
decided to share this inner voice with you.
At
these moments I fall in love with my pen that always make me write beautifully.
What do you read?
I
read Talks of Peace written by Sabri Tandoğan in 14 volumes. And I also
read and follow some authors.
Do you need a special
place or inspiration to write?
Every
place, every setting may be a source of muse for me. I can write everywhere and
get inspired everywhere.
I
read your book Semranna Against Pollyanna. I
loved it! Can you talk about your book? What’s its message?
Firstly,
I’d like to express that I choose to use a plain language that everybody can
understand. I pay attention to its being intriguing, fluent and absorbing. I
think it’s one of the reasons that you enjoyed it. In its second edition, after
I expanded it, it was published under the name of From Pollyanna to
Semranna. The main idea of both of my books is that: Every person has some
kinds of happy and sorrowful stories; what I do is the effort to bring out the
happy person in ourselves by accepting and trying to solve the problems rather
than dramatizing them. Whatever we experience, we can always be hopeful.
You also wrote children’s
books such as The Little Inspector. Writing children’s stories requires
a different point of view, doesn’t it?
Writing
children’s stories is a source of happiness for me. The little girl inside me
also had her word and helped me while writing with her excitements and dreams.
Touching the hearts of children and making them smile is an invaluable gift for
me. What you give to children immediately turns back to you unconditionally.
And this is a great joy for us. Making our culture be always remembered is our
utmost duty. This is the greatest heritage. And I try to accomplish this.
As a person of
culture, what would you like to say about humans and books?
Humans
and books can be considered as a whole. Books mean life and experience. Books
aren’t just papers or cover pages. One should take reading books as a way of
life.
I
know that books are the nicest universal language and I aim to embrace all the
humanity. Books are the greatest way of communication no matter from which
geography you are. They will live forever, and people will continue to read
them.
Finally what would you
like to say to the young people, booklovers and your friends?
I
advise them to read a lot. They should discover the joy of reading themselves
and be aware of the fact that reading is very important and necessary in life.
I’d
like to add that a life without books is a life that has not been lived and
that has come up short.
Let’s
be the subject of life, else we will be the object of history.
Thank you for this lovely interview, Mrs Iplikci. I wish you success,
happiness and all the best.
Thank
you. Kind regards.
