Expert
of economy, politician and statesman, deputy, minister, vice prime minister. He
was born in Unye, Ordu on March 23, 1959. He graduated from Istanbul
University, Faculty of Business Management (1982). He completed
his masters’ degree at the same university with the thesis "Integrating
the Stock Management with Data Base Approach" (1984).
He conducted graduate studies at Temple University School of Business &
Management (USA, 1988-1989). He received his doctoral
degree in economics (1992) and he became an associate professor of Labor
Economy in 1994 with his study named “Post-Endüstriyel Dönüşüm ve Japon Sisteminde
İşçi-Yönetim İlişkileri”.
He was a visiting lecturer at Cornell University, School of Industrial and
Labor Relations (USA, 1990-1993). He taught the courses of Social Politics,
Labour Economy and Human Resources Management at Istanbul University, Faculty
of Economics for long years.
He
was involved in active politics in 1998 and became Virtue Party Istanbul
Province Chairman and General Administration Board member. Then, he continued
his duty as Felicity Party Istanbul Province Chairman and Vice President.
Kurtulmus
was elected as the Chairman of Felicity Party at Third Regular Congress on
October 26, 2008. He was re-elected on July 11, 2010 and then he quit the
Felicity Party on October 1, 2010; began with his new political career. He
continued his career in politics at People's Voice Party that was established
on November 1, 2010. Then, he joined the JDP staff on September 22, 2012 with
the integration meeting in Istanbul.
He
became the JDP Vice President responsible from economy on October 4, 2012 with
the change in JDP Central Executive Board. Numan Kurtulmus was appointed as
Vice Prime Minister in 62nd Government. He was elected as Ordu deputy in June 7
and November 1, 2015 elections. He was the Vice Prime Minister in 63rd
Government. He was assigned as Vice Prime Minister by Ahmet Davutoglu. He was
assigned as Vice Prime Minister by Ahmet Davutoglu in the 64th Government
established on Novmber 24, 2015 and he is still doing this.
He
has several published books, and his articles were published on subjects such
as social policy, employee management relations, management and organization,
trade unions and new trends in unions and human resources management. He has
also issued papers in symposiums and seminars of various international and
national institutions. He was married to Sevgi Kurtulmus in 1988 and he has
three children named Ayse, Ismail and Emir.
