Writer and translator (b. 1957, Biga /
Çanakkale). He attended Biga İmam-Hatip High School (1980) and graduated from
İstanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Philosophy (1984). He
worked as a translator, proofreader and editor at various publishing houses.
After 1985 he worked as a researcher at Marmara University, Faculty of
Theology. In 1980, he completed his doctorate thesis with the title “İslâm Felsefesi Tarihinde Ahlâk İlminin
Teşekkülü” (Interpretation of Ethics in the History of the Philosophy of
Islam) at Marmara University, Institute of Social Sciences. In 1996, he became
an associate professor. He served as a lecturer at Marmara University, Faculty
of Theology, the Chair of Philosophy of Islam. In addition, he is a member of
the scientific commission of the “Turkish Foundation of Religion Encyclopedia
of Islam”.
His articles have been published in the
review Yönelişler. He has translated
books from Arabic and English. He received the Research Award of the Writers
Union of Turkey with his book İki Denizin
Birleştiği Yer (Where the Two Seas Meet).
