Poet and writer. His real name is
Ünal Dirlik. He was born in Fethiye / Muğla (1938). He completed Aksu Teachers’
School in 1956 (Village Institute, Antalya).
He worked as a teacher in Denizli and in Fethiye from 1957 onwards. He was retired
in 1986. He worked as art and literature page editor of Fethiye newspaper. He prepared and hosted cultural programs at FRT
(Fethiye Radio and Television). He was known with his research on folklore. He
is a member of FEKSAD (Fethiye Culture and Arts Association), EGAYDER (Aegean
Researchers and Writers Association), Muğla Association of Journalists and
Folklore Research Council.
His first writings were published
in Şelale newspaper (Antalya, 1953) and in Türkiye Folklor
Araştırmaları journal (1955). He
started to manage Beşkaza journal which started in Fethiye (1962). His
poems and articles were published in journals such as Çağrı, Yeni Defne,
Aykırı Sanat, Sevgi Yolu, Gülpınar, Fethiye Dergisi, Size and in Sevgi
Yolu anthology. He was awarded with the appreciation certificate by Muğla
Governorate because of his contributions to the compilation studies of TDK on
proverbs, idioms and words (1972). He received several awards such as; Folklore
Research Council (2000), Fethiye Folklore First Prize of Muğla Association of
Journalists (2001) and several awards of Muğla Association of Journalists and
other institutions in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004. He has also received
outstanding service awards from FRT (Fethiye Radio and Television) in 2000,
honorary certificate from Egay-Der, Prize for Serving Folklore (2002), and 50th
Year Art Special Award (2004-Muğla Association of Journalists).
