Literature researcher
(b. 5 March 1936, Şeki / Azerbaijan). He used the pen names of Yaşar, Q. Yaşar,
Y. Qarayev in some of his works. In 1946 he moved to Baku with his family.
After he graduated from Azerbaijan State University, Faculty of Philology
(1958), he began to work at Azerbaijan Academy of Sciences, Institute of
Language and Literature. He has still worked there, in addition to
head-mastership at Nizami Institute of Literature. He took important official
duties about different publication houses, literature and fine arts. In 1980 he
became an assistant professor and in 1985 a professor.
He published criticism about
contemporary literature and theater in different reviews. In 1976-1991 he did
chairmanship of department of criticizing and literary of Writers Union of
Azerbaijan. Since 1991 he worked as a secretary at the department of
criticizing and literary of Writers Union of Azerbaijan. In addition he is a
member of State Scientific Title Committee, redactor and founder of Edepi Proses review that is published
one time in a year.
He was a part of writers of nine-volume

Edebiyatı Tarihi Başlangıçtan 1917'ye
Kadar (History of World Literature, History of Many-Nation Soviets
Literature, From Beginning to 1917) that was prepared by Maxim Gorky Institute
of Literature. In 1980 he was found appropriate enough for Azerbaijan State
Award. In 1982 he became Azerbaijan State Science Man.
