Politician and statesman, deputy, vice prime minister, political scientist, writer. He was born on September 22, 1969 in Üsküdar / Istanbul. His father’s name is Reşit and his mother’s name is Fatma. He completed Çınardere Primary School and Anadolu University Communication Sciences Faculty, Department of Media; and he completed his masters’ degree at the same department. He completed his doctoral education at Marmara University, Department of Political Science (1997). His masters’ thesis is titled “Interaction between Newspaper and TV”; and his doctoral thesis is named “The Development of Political Islam in Turkey after 1950”. He worked as the general coordinator of Yeni Zemin journal (1994-1996), press consultant at State Ministry (1996) and as a press consultant for Pendik Municipality. He began his journalism career by doing internship in Milliyet newspaper. He published İç Anadolu newspaper. He wrote articles in Yeni Şafak and Star newspapers and in several journals. He worked as a general coordinator at MODUS Strategic Research Center and Ankara Social Research Center ANAR. He worked as Press Consultant for State Minister, General President Consultant of Justice and Development Party and as the political consultant of Prime Minister Erdogan in TGNA (2002). He continued his work as the Prime Minister consultant. He gave lectures at TOBB (Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges) Economy and Technology University and in Bahçeşehir University School of Leadership. He has 8 books and several articles published in journals and newspapers. Akdoğan speaks English, he is married and father of 3 children. He was appointed as Vice Prime Minister after 2007 general elections.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yalcin Akdogan was elected as Ankara Deputy in 2011, June 7 and November 1, 2015 elections as 24th, 25th and 26th Term deputy. He was the Vice Prime Minister in 62nd, 63rd   (August 29, 2014) and 64th Governments (November 24, 2015).  He is still the Vice Prime Minister.

His first article was published in Milliyet newspaper (1987). He has published his articles in the journals and newspapers such as Yeni Zemin (1993-94), Nehir, Bilgi ve Hikmet, Kitap and Yeni Şafak (as a columnist). He has been the editor of several books published by Pendik Municipality. He received the News-Interviews Award in 1991 Young Journalists Contest organized by Hürriyet Foundation. He has submitted papers in many national and international meetings; attended as speaker in seminars and conferences.
