Journalist, writer, translator. He was born in Sinlice Village, Şalpazarı, Trabzon in 1969. He completed his primary school education in his village, and completed his secondary and high school education in Rize, Ordu and Trabzon. He graduated from Trabzon Imam Hatip High School and Izmir Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Law. He began to work in various media organs during his school years. He went to Malaysia for a while. When he returned to country he began to work in Yeni Şafak journal, wrote on foreign politics. He was elected as the journalist of the year in Press /Idea branch by TYB. He is still working as executive editor of Yeni Şafak journal.

Karagül began to work in Yeni Şafak Journal in 1995. He was known with his Foreign News Editorship and especially with his columns on international relations. He worked in this job for long years, Karagül was assigned as executive editor of TVNET in 2011, produced various programs in this television. He was assigned as executive editor of Yeni Şafak in July 2012, Karagül still continues to his work here. He is married and has two kids.
