Poet and writer (b. 12 December 1938, İstanbul). His
full name is Hüseyin Perviz Hatemi and is the twin brother of the poet and
writer, Prof. Dr. Hasan Hüsrev Hatemi. He attended Talatpaşa Primary School,
Şişli Secondary School, the Taksim Atatürk High School for Boys (1956), and
graduated from İstanbul University, Faculty of Law (1960). He entered the
university from which he graduated as a research assistant; he became an
associate professor (1976) and a professor (1981). He was suspended from the
university under article 1402 of the Turkish Constitution between 1983 and
1990, he later returned to his job. He became one of the most colorful
characters of the time with his appearing on numerous panels and at public
discussions from 1990 with his wife, the lawyer Kezban Hatemi.
His first article was published in a newspaper Aydın Gençlik while
he was at secondary school. His poems and articles on various themes, and
especially on Islamic Law, were published in the reviews and newspapers İslâm (1962-64), Fikir ve Sanatta Hareket (1966-70), Yeni Gündem, Mavera, Şehir (1984-87), Girişim (1985-1989), Zaman
(1986). He has worked as a columnist in the newspaper, Zaman.
