Literature researcher. He was born on March 31, 1927 in Akdere village / Sumnu / Bulgaria. He completed his education in Akdere Village primary school (1938), his secondary and high school education in Şumnu Medresetü’l-Aliyyesi and in Şumnu Medresetü’n-Nüvvâb (1946). He graduated from Erzurum Ataturk University Faculty of Letters and Sciences, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1963). He worked as a primary school in Akdere (1946-1947) and Yenice Balkan (1948-1949). After completing his military service, he worked in different ranks such as officer and administrator at the General Directorate Land and Resettlement and at field service (1952-1960). He became the general secretary of Erzurum University Faculty of Letters and Sciences in 1963 and he was appointed as an assistant one year later. He has completed his doctoral education with his thesis named “Seyyid Nesimi, Hayatı, Eserleri ve Türkçe Divanı’nın Tenkidli Metni” in 1979. He became an associate professor in 1975 and a professor at Fırat University in 1983. He was appointed as the Dean of Selçuk University, Faculty of Theology in the same year; and also continued to teach as a lecturer at the Faculty of Education in the same university.
His research and reviews articles on Turkish literature were published in journals such as Türk Kültürü (1965), Edebiyat Fakültesi Araştırma Dergisi (1971-83), Konya İlâhiyat Fakültesi Dergisi (1986-88) and newspapers such as Tercüman (1974-88), Bayrak (1985), Zaman (1987). He received 1982 Jury Special Award of Turkish national Culture Foundation with his review Cevrî / Hayatı, Edebî Kişiliği, Eserleri ve Divanı’nın Tenkidli Metni (1981).
