Journalist-writer (B.
February 20,1916, Istanbul – D. October 28, 2008, Burhaniye / Balıkesir). He
graduated from Istanbul 28th Primary School, Davutpaşa Secondary
School and Pertevniyal High School (1934). He received a FRM Certificate from
Istanbul University, Faculty of Science (1937). After being a teacher at
Sariyer Secondary School (1939) and Haydarpaşa High School (1942-1948); he
established Yeditepe Publications in 1950 and started to publish the Yeditepe magazine (1952) until 1984.
He worked as media
consultant at Istanbul City Opera (1963-1970), Istanbul State Opera (1970-1972)
and Istanbul City Theater (1974-1975). He worked in the Ministry of Culture as
a Copyrights director and Commission member (1995-1996). He never married. He
is the member of PEN Writers’ Association, International Literature Critics
Association, Journalists’ Association of Turkey, Literacy Association and Media
Council.
His first article was
published in the weekly journal of Yeni
Adam (1936). His articles were published in journals such as Yeni Adam (1936-42),
Aylık Ansiklopedi (1945-61), Ses (1938), Yeditepe
(195-84), Yeni Ses, Yurt ve Dünya, Adımlar, Küllük, Pınar, Yığın, Yürüyüş
vb. He has also written the theater and opera articles for Meydan Larousse
Encyclopedia. He received 1997
Burhan Felek Service Award by Journalists’ Association and a Honorary
Certificate by Association of Cinema Writers.
