Playwright (b. 10 April 1944, Çorum - d. 19 July 2019, Istanbul). He graduated from Çorum High School and Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Department of Librarianship (1972). He worked as a civil servant (1964) and as a supervisor at the Headquarters of the Ministry of National Education. He gave up being a civil servant while he was the Department Manager of the Ministry of National Education İstanbul Publishing House (1980). He worked as a teacher of dramatic playwriting at the Müjdat Gezen Art Center and he worked as the theater section director at Papirüs Publishing and Press. He is a member of the Writers Syndicate of Turkey’s administration board and the PEN Writers Association and Literary Council of the Republic of Turkey State Theatres General Headquarters
His humorous short stories and plays have been published in magazines such as Pardon and Tiyatro 72. He has written for the newspaper Cumhuriyet. His first play, which has not been published yet, was performed by Üsküdar Players and he won the Altın Fındık Most Successful Writer Award. His play Öğretmen Hasan Bey ve Oğulları (Teacher Hasan Bey and his Sons) was praised by the Ankara Arts Foundation (1973) he won the Abdi İpekçi Play Competition with his play Çıkmaz Sokak (Blind Alley, 1986). He shared the award in the Foundation of Theatre, Opera and Ballet Workers play competition with his play Kadıncıklar (Poor Women). He has also won many awards from the Union of Turkish Women, the İsmet Küntay Competition, the Avni Dilligil Competition, the International Institute of Theater, the Association of Researches of the Social Lives of Women, the Lions Club and the Ministry of Culture. Cücenoğlu’s plays have been translated into many languages such as Russian, English, German, French, Bulgarian, Greek, Macedonian, Swedish, Georgian, Urdu, Japanese, Romanian, Azerbaijani, Tatar, Polish, Chuvash, Persian, Arabic and Spanish. Some of his plays have been performed and selected as repertoire pieces in some countries such as Russia, Germany, France, Yugoslavia, Australia, Romania, Cyprus, Poland, Azerbaijan and the United States, etc.
