Poet and writer (b. 1913, Radovişte / Yugoslavia - d. 21 May 1988, İstanbul). A graduate of İstanbul Pertevniyal High School (1933) and Ankara University, Faculty of Law (1936), he started working as a journalist in 1932 as a reporter at the journal Son Saat. He wrote columns for the journal Akşam for 25 years (1939-64). He published and managed reviews such as Resimli Hayat (1952), Ses and Resimli Roman.

His early poems were published in the review Varlık under the pen name Şevket Hıfzı (1933). Having his poetry book published under the same pen name, he gave up writing poetry after he started to write columns and produced work in the genres of essay and conversation. He won the Burhan Felek 1987 Award for his contributions to journalism. Some of his poems have been set to music in various styles.
