Researcher
and writer (b. 1927, İstanbul). He is a graduate of California Stanford
University, Faculty of Political Sciences (1948). He completed his doctorate
studies, which he had begun in 1950, with his thesis “Genç Osmanlı
Düşüncesinin Oluşumu” (The Genesis of Young Ottoman Thought, 1958). Later,
he returned to Turkey and worked as an assistant at Ankara University, Faculty
of Social Sciences (1952-56) and as a consultant to the secretary general of
the Freedom Party (1956). When he finished his doctorate studies, he went to
the U.S and worked at Harvard and Princeton Universities (1958-61). After the
military coup on 27 May 1960, he resumed his office at the Faculty of Social
Sciences (1961-72). In 1973, he began
giving lectures at Boğaziçi University, Faculty of Social Sciences. He served,
with his title of associate professor, as the head of the Department of Public
Administration.
