Researcher of literature (b. 15 February 1945, Pınaryolu Village / Refahiye / Erzincan – d. Ö. 9 Jul 2013). He completed his primary education in the village where he was born and elementary education in Refahiye. He attended the Erzurum High School in 1963 where he studied as a free boarder in 1960 and graduated from Atatürk University, Faculty of Literature, Department of Turkish Language and Literature in 1967.
He started to work as a teacher of literature at Bayburt High School in the same year and at Erzincan Commercial High School between 1970 and 1974. He became a doctor of literature in 1973 with his thesis Refik Hâlid Karay'ın Eserleri Üzerine Bir Araştırma (A Research on the Works of Refik Hâlid Karay) that he prepared under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Kaya Bilgegil. He was appointed to Kâzım Karabekir Institute of Education as a lecturer of literature. He started to work as a specialist at Atatürk University, Faculty of Literature in 1975 and became an assistant doctor at the same faculty in 1976. He was sent to France by Atatürk University between 1978 and 1979.
He became an associate professor with his thesis Ahmed Rasim'in Eserlerinde İstanbul (İstanbul in the Works of Ahmet
Rasim) in 1981 and became professor in 1987. He was the Dean of Kâzım Karabekir
Institute of Education between 1989 and 1995, the Vice Chancellor of Ahmed
Yesevi Turk- Kazak University during the 1996-1997 term, an academician and
chairman at Kırıkkale University, Faculty of Science and Literature, Department
of Turkish Language and Literature between 1988 and 2001. He transferred to
Gazi University, Faculty of Science and Literature, Department of Turkish
Language and Literature in 2001 and has served as the chairman of this
department since 2002. He is known for his works on Modern Turkish Literature.
His articles have been published in the reviews such as Fikir ve Sanatta Hareket, Doğuş Edebiyat, Millî Kültür, Türkiye Kültür ve Sanat Yıllığı, Türk Edebiyatı, Kazım Karabekir Eğitim Fakültesi, Türk Dili ve Edebiyatı Dergisi (Erzurum), Türk Dili, Türk Dili, Millî Eğitim, Türkiye Günlüğü, Kültür Dünyası, Türk Yurdu, Bilig, Kırıkkale Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü Dergisi, Türklük Bilim Araştırmaları, Bilge, Çevren and Toplum Bilim since 1972.
