Researcher and writer (b. 1918, Çardak
Province / Göksun / Kahramanmaraş – d. 25 August 1991, İstanbul). He attended
primary and secondary school in Gaziantep and graduated from Istanbul Advanced
Teacher Training School, Department of Turkish Language and Literature and
Department of Philosophy (1941). He worked as an administrator and teacher at
high schools in Erzurum (1941), Elazığ (1945-48) and Ankara; as a general
inspector at the Ministry of National Education (1975-61); as the Assistant
General Director of Advanced Teachers (1961-62) and as a teacher of literature
at the İstanbul Institute of National Education (1962-75) where he retired. For
a while, he carried out studies in Europe and the United States.
He was known for his anthologies as
well as his short stories, research-studies and collections, which were
published in newspapers and reviews such as Vatan
(1941), Yedigün ve Çınaraltı (1942-45),
Cumhuriyet Zafer (Ankara, 1954-60) Milliyet (1955-71), Yeni İstanbul (1956-57) Yaratış,
Varlık, Hisar, Türk Edebiyatı, Hayat, Hayat Tarih and Gösteri. He was honored with a certificate of appreciation and a
monetary reward from the Ministry of Culture in 1986 for his “eminent services
to Turkish culture and arts”.
