Poet (b. 1906, Tabriz, Iran-d. 18 September 1988). His full name was
Muhammed Hüseyin. He was one of the famous poets of Azerbaijan. He completed
his primary education in Tabriz and left the higher education in Tehran. He
retired as official clerk which he had begin in 1936. Losing his mother and
father in his juvenile days left deep traces in his soul. He married in Tabriz
in 1935. He had two daughters and two sons from this marriage.
Şehriyar whose
works were mostly in Persian had also works in Turkish. He told in his poem Haydar Baba'ya
Selam (Greetings to Haydar Baba) with which he became famous in Turkey,
that his memoirs in his childhood and his longing to his home and natural
beauties of his homeland. His Persian poems were collected in three volumes'
Divan (Divan*), his Turkish poems were published with the titles Türkçe
Şiirlerinden Örnekler (Examples from His Poems in Turkish) and Haydar Baba'ya
Selam (Greetings to Haydar Baba).
