Script writer, movie director, decorator. He was born on November 10th, 1932 in Trabzon. He graduated from Galatasaray High School, from the Faculty of Architecture, Istanbul Technical University. He began to work at Küçük Sahne as a decorator and graphic designer during his student day. He was one of the founding members of Cep Theater and the Foundation of Theatre Player. He embarked his career in film sector as assistant director in Karacaoğlan’ın Kara Sevdası directed by Atıf Yılmaz in 1959. He went abroad with Rockefeller scholarship and did studies on various fields, especially on opera decoration in France, England, the USA and Italy in 1963. He directed his first movie Bitmeyen Yol in 1965. He attracted a great deal of attention with Bitmeyen Yol in which he reflected the problems of those who moved to the city from a village from the point of social reality. Sarıoğlu, who was one of the most important figures during the golden age of film sector, during the time between 1960 and 1976, worked as an art director, director and script writer. He worked at the Institute of Cinema-Television, Istanbul State Fine Arts Academy as a lecturer in 1979. Later, he passed to the Department of Cinema-Television, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.

As from the 1990s, he has focused on decoration and between 1990 and 1997 he won the Best Decoration Awards with his decors in the plays Derin Bir Soluk Al, Bir Delinin Hatıra Defteri, İnsanlarım, Çöplük, İçimdeki Çığlık, Hysteria, Abelard et Heloise, Oyun Karıştı. He won Muhsin Ertuğrul Effort Award at Izmir Dokuz Eylül University.
