Dursun Özden

Poet and writer (b. 21 October 1950, Ulukışla / Niğde). After attending primary school in his village (1965), he graduated from Niğde High School (1970). He left faculty of management when he was at third class and attended Press and Public Relations College from which he graduated in 1998. Since 1973 he worked as civil servant, technician, trade unionist, editor in formal and private organizations. He worked as columnist and travel literature writer at Bizim Gazete and Doğan News Agency since 1994. He is a member of the Writers Syndicate of Turkey and Turkish Authors Associaton.

 His first poem, “Yayla Rüyası” (Dream of Plateu) was published in the review, Kurtuluş (1 September 1970). He published his other works in the reviews and newspapers such as Gösteri, Milliyet Sanat, Dil, Türk Dili, Evrensel, Aykırı Sanat, Damar, Kıyı, Karşı, Tarla, Cumhuriyet Kitap, Milliyet, Dünya, Şiir Ülkesi, Merhaba, TGC Bizim Gazete, Papirüs, İnsancıl. He collected the special award of Sofia Radio Turkish Broadcasting Service with his essay titled Merhaba Komşu (Hello Neighbor) in 1976. His short story Güle Güle (Good-bye) was filmed by Zeki Öktem in 2000. His poems in Kanayan Türküler (Bleeding Folk Songs) were translated into Macedonian. He collected Latin America Literature Award with his work, Küba Uzak Değil (Cuban is not far away) in 1996; Middle East Al Cahez Poetry Award with his work, Dudak İzi (Lipprint) in 1999 and Absurd Art Poetry Award in 2000.
