Political scientist (b. 1 May 1940,
Beşiktaş / İstanbul). He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Political
Sciences (1966). He completed his postgraduate education on sociology and
social psychology at Oklahoma University (1971- 72) and earned his PhD at New
York State University (Binghamton) in 1975. He worked as an academician at
Middle East Technical University after for a time and has worked at Ankara
University, Faculty of Political Sciences since July 1976. He became an
associate professor on Political Behavior in 1979 and a professor on Social
Sciences in 1989 at this faculty where he entered as an assistant of Political
Behavior division.
As well as his office at Faculty of
Political Sciences, he stayed as a visiting professor at Institution for Public
Administration for Turkey and the Middle East Administration Vocational School
(1980- 84), United States, John Hopkins University, International Works
Vocational School (1985- 86) and England, London School of Economics and
Political Science.
He was a board member of the Europe
2000, which is a famous international institute on organized crime and
international terrorism, between 1990 and 1999 and chair of the Researching
Institute for the Problems of Society between 1997 and 1999. He is still a
member of Europe Safety and Cooperation Organization, Expert Committee and
chair of the Researching Institute for the Problems of Society. His many
articles on social organization, institutionalism, social change and political
formations were published in various reviews. He is a member of Turkish Social
Sciences Institute and Turkish Association of Political Sciences.
