Poet (b. 5 March 1930, Ekinözü-Cela /
Elbistan / Kahramanmaraş - d. 17 October 2018, Kahramanmaraş). In addition to his real name, he has used Baha
Deliorman, Said Yaylalı and Ekinözülü Âşık Rahmanî as pen names. He attended
primary school in the village where he was born. In Hasanoğlan Village
Institute (Ankara) he completed his secondary education that he had started at
Adana Düziçi Village Institute (1949). After he worked as a government health
official at heath organizations in Kahraman Maraş (1949-82), he officially retired
in 1982. He founded Dolunay Publication in 1986 and took on the duty of editor.
His first poem was
published in the newspaper Yurt that was managed by Behçet Kemal Çağlar
(1942). He achieved a unique new style by combining his ideas on poetry with that
of traditional folk poetry with a modern style. In 1983 he was chosen as Poet
of the Year by Kayseri Association of Artist. In 1986 he collected the Writers
Union of Turkey Poet of the Year Award with his book Bir Çift Beyaz Kartal
(A Pair of White Eagles). In 1991 he won the Championship Award in the
“Supplication to God” Competition that was organized by the Turkish Foundation
for Religious Affairs with his poem Beyaz Dilekçe (White Petition). His
poetry works were published in newspapers and reviews such as Yurt (1942),
Köy Postası (1949), Genç Kalemler (1950), Orkun, Tohum, Ozan
(1959), Varlık Yıllığı (1963), Büyük Türkiye, Hareket, Adımlar, Elif,
Zeren, Hisar, Türk Edebiyatı, Doğuş Edebiyatı, Nilufer, Millî Kültür,
Elbistan’ın Sesi, Yeni Elbistan, Kent Huduteli, Ortadoğu, Sabah, İstiklal,
Bayrak especially in the review Dolunay which he published.
