Historian (b. 24. March 1924, Elazığ – d. 7 March 1989, İstanbul). He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography (1945). He completed his doctorate studies when he was assisting the German professor W. Eberhard (1947). He became an assistant professor in 1956 and professor in 1964. He was famous for his studies on Central Asian Turkish History and Civilization.

Türk Mitolojisi (Turkish Mythology), Türk Devlet Anlayışı (The Turkish Understanding of State) İslâmiyetten Önce Türk Kültür Tarihi (History of Turkish Culture Before Islam), Büyük Hun İmparatorluğu Tarihi (History of the Great Hun Empire), SinoTurcica (SinoTurcica, in Chinese and Turkish), Türk Kültür Tarihine Giriş (Introduction to the History of Turkish Culture, 9 volumes, 1977-89), Çingiz Han'ın Türk Müşavirleri (The Turkish Advisors of Genghis Khan, 2002).
