Journalist
and writer (b. 13 April 1884, İzmir - d. 19 May 1914). He used the pen names
Ahmed Nebil, and Züğürt. After attending primary school and high school in
Bursa, he graduated from the School of Politics (1908). He established the
Science and Philosophy Reform libraries and started his writing career. His
poems, articles, stories and translations started to be published from

published the philosophy and art reviews Hâle, Tenkid, Felsefe Mecmuası (1911), Zekâ (1912) and humorous reviews such as
Eşek (1912), Elmalum and Yine O. He
gave lessons at the United Guide Ottoman School for a while (1912). Baha Tevfik
who was one of the writers that advocated materialist philosophy in Turkey,
asserted that westernization should be practiced not only in method, but also
in thought and art, and criticized some of his contemporaries harshly. He is
buried in İstanbul Karacaahmet Cemetery.
