Writer (b. 10 May 1922,
Samsun – D. 31 May 2005, Ankara). He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty
of Law. He worked as a reporter at the Ministry of Trade, and a judicial
counselor at the Highways Administration. He was a judicial counselor of a
trade union between 1979 and 1992. He gained fame when he ranked third with his
story Dost (Friend, 1950) at the World Short Story Competition organized
by the newspaper Yeni İstanbul and New York Herald Tribune together.
He is a member of the Turkish Authors Association. He continues his studies in
Ankara.
His short stories were published in the
reviews Seçilmiş Hikâyeler, Yeditepe and Varlık. He collected the
Turkish Language Association Award in 1963 with his play Ihlamur Ağacı
(The Linden Tree, 1962). He shared the Abdi İpekçi Play Award in 1980 with
Tuncer Cücenoğlu, with his play İpin Ucu (End of the Rope). He received
the Yunus Nadi Unpublished Novel Award and shared the Sedat Simavi Award
with Siyah Beyaz (Black White) in 1993. His story Dost (The
Friend) was translated into French, and Batak (the Floundering) into
German. His stories were included in anthologies at home and abroad.

Besides, he translated some works, including
one of Vercors.
