Poet
and writer (b. 23 September 1930, Çölemerik / Hakkari - d. June 2003,
İstanbul). His full name was Çelik Uygur Gülersoy. He graduated from Beyoğlu
High School (1949) and İstanbul University, Faculty of Law (1958). He worked as
legal adviser in Turkey Turing and Automobile Institution (1961) for which he
began to work during his school days (1947), after 1965 he worked as general
manager. He was renowned with the activities of the institution that he
directed on the areas of culture, art and tourism.
His first article was a book presentation published in
the review Türkiye Turing ve Otomobil
Kurumu in 1952. He received the
1979 Sedat Simavi Foundation Award and the
Ministry of Tourism and Culture Honor Plaquette in 1980 with his own study Kapalıçarşı'nın Romanı (Novel of Grand Bazaar). Furthermore he
received the "Cevaliere" Award from Italian Presidency (1977),
the “National Appreciation” from France Presidency (1978), the Certificate of
Acknowledgement from İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (1991). He was given
Honorary Doctorate by Karadeniz and Boğaziçi Universities in 1986.
