Cinema actor. He was born in Eskişehir in 1937. His real name is Fahrettin Cüreklibatur. His father is one of the veterans of Independence War, Hacı Yakup. He graduated from Eskişehir Atatürk High School and Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine (1961). He won a contest organized by a magazine and started his acting career with Gurbet Kuşları directed by Halit Refiğ (1964). Arkın started to play leading roles in a short time. He was the third actor in Turkish cinema to be remembered with the nickname “King” after Ayhan Işık and Yılmaz Güney. After 1980s he rather acted in adventure movies. He also worked as director in some movies aside from acting. He won the Best Actor Award with his movie İnsanlar Yaşadıkça, in 1969, with his movie Mağlup Edilemeyenler in Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festival in 1976; and with his movie Yaralı Kurt in Adana Altın Koza Film Festival in 1972. In 1999 he was granted life-time honorary award in Antalya Altın Portakal Film Festival.
