Coşkun Ertepınar

Poet (B. 1914, Erkilet / Kayseri – D. August 9, 2005, Ankara). After completing his primary school education in Erkilet (1925), he went to boarding school at Kayseri High School where he completed his secondary education (1930). He graduated from Sivas Boys’ Teacher School (1932) and Ankara Gazi Education Institute, Department of Turkish Language and Literature (1937). From 1932 on, he worked as a teacher and administrator at secondary schools and high schools in Sivas, Malatya, Şebinkarahisar, Muğla, Iskenderun and Zile. Then, he worked as Secondary School Branch Director at Ministry of National Education (1958-1966), Public Education General Director (1968-1970), Ministry Intendent (1970-1972) and Ministry Consultation (1972-1974). He retired upon his own request in 1974. He continued teaching literature in several high schools at Ankara and Gönen, both during his duty at the Ministry and after his retirement.

His first poem (Bu Gece) was published in Muhit journal (November, 1930). His poems were published in several journals such as Muhit, Ülkü, Varlık, Gündüz, Çağrı, Yücel, Şadırvan, Yeni Adam, Türk Dili, Hisar, Kemalist Ülkü, Çaba, Eflatun, Erciyes, Türk Kadını, Millî Kültür, Türk Kültürü, and Yunus Emre Yolu. He received the Turkey National Culture Foundation Special Jury Award in 1978 with his book named Zaman Bahçesinde. In 1991, he was awarded by a Service Honor Award by ILESAM. Many of his poems were composed in different forms and they were included in course textbooks. Some of his poems were translated into English, Hungarian and Polish.
