Writer and musicologist (b. 1946,
İstanbul). He completed his higher education in Paris. He is still the Chairman
of Boğaziçi University, Department of Economics with the title of professor.
He started his musical studies with Fikret Bertuğ. Later on he worked
with Emin Ongan, Niyazi Sayın and Necdet Yaşar. Since 1988, he has published
various articles about Classical Turkish Music in different periodicals and
newspapers. In recent years he has written for the newspaper Zaman. With his book called Zaman-Mekân-Müzik (Time-Place-Music) he
won the Writers Union of Turkey Music Award in 1993.
