Poet (b. 25 February 1973, Sarız / Kayseri). He has used the pen names Ozan Akgüneş, Özlem Günay Aytekin and Can Ozan. He completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Gaziantep.  He studied at Southgate in London and at New College in Nottingham. He left the Faculty of Business Administration at Anadolu University in the first year (1995). He worked as art director at newspapers published in Gaziantep such as Doğuş, Önder, Yeni Gazete, Sizin Gazete, Ekspres and Arena and as editor at the newspapers Doğan and Şok. He wrote about philosophy and culture in the newspaper Spor 27. He organized poetry exhibitions. Leaving Turkey, he settled in London in May 1998.

His first poem, Yeni Bir Gün (A New Day), was published in the journal Türkiye Çocuk (18 August 1989, year: 8, issue: 41). His poems have been published in newspapers and journals such as Şafak (Greece, 1993), Ses, Ana, Gülpınar, Hayat, Berfin Bahar, Çalı, Edebiyat Gündemi, Köşe Taşı (the United Kingdom), Öteki-siz, Dem (Germany), Wird (Germany), Demokratik Gündem (Germany), Avrupa (the United Kingdom), Olay (the United Kingdom) Hürriyet Kelebek, Aykırı Sanat, Son Haber, Ozan, Damla, Şiir Defteri, Tepe Edebiyat, Kuzeysu, Kırkmerdiven.  He was chosen as Researcher of the Year in 1988 by the journal Türkiye Çocuk. He was awarded with an honor certificate by the journal Müzik Magazin for his contributions to the art of poetry in 1990. With his poem Bir Dünya Büyüyor Yüreğimde (A World is Growing in My Heart) he received the Special Jury Award from Humanist International of Sweden in 1992 and he received the second award in the Peace Poem Competition arranged by the journal Türkiye and Bay Agent.  Translated into Farsi by Naser Feiz, his poems have been published in pioneering literature journals in Tehran and also translated into English. They have also been published in anthologies in England and America.  Some of his poems have been set to music by Birol Topaloğlu, Cihangir Bostancı, Gül Kansu and Suat Adalar.

With the aim of criticizing the insensitivity of people relating to some social incidents and intellectuals’ remaining silent, he decided to make a series of protests.  As a first protest, on 8 October 1996 he threw his books into the sea from the Galata Bridge in İstanbul and on 25 February 1997 in Gaziantep Asri Cemetery, presenting a poetry recital for the dead, he left his poetry books in the cemetery. He is a member of the Turkish Authors Association, the Writers Syndicate of Turkey, the Gaziantep Fine Arts Association and the Kilis Journalist Association.
