Writer (b. 1944, Ankara - d. 4 July 2010, İstanbul). She wrote under the surname of her husband, the poet Metin Altıok, during the time they were married. She used also the pen name Suat Selçuk. She attended the Ankara High School for Girls (1962), and graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Language, History and Geography, Department of Philosophy (1966). She became an assistant at the same department. She completed her graduate studies at the Department of Fine Arts at the Faculty of Education in the same university (1971), and her doctorate studies on philosophy of literature at the Faculty of Social and Administrative Sciences at Hacettepe University (1974). She worked as a lecturer at Hacettepe University, Department of Philosophy. During her duty as a lecturer for 18 years, she gave lectures on history of philosophy, philosophy of arts, informative theories and philosophy of linguistics. When she was about to become an associate professor in 1983, she resigned and left the university. Afterwards, she began to work at an advertisement company.

She entered the İstanbul City Theatres in 1991, where she worked as chief dramaturge and director of cultural activities. She was a member of the elective boards of the Simavi Literature Awards, the Sait Faik Short Story Awards, the Behçet Necatigil Poetry Award, the Inkılap Publishing House Literature Awards, and the Cevdet Kudret Awards.

Her essays and critics were published in reviews such as Forum, Türk Dili, Oluşum, Dost, Soyut, Milliyet Sanat and in newspapers such as Politika, Söz and Cumhuriyet.
