Researcher and
writer (b. 1 January 1938, İstanbul). He graduated from Kabataş High School for
Boys (1955) and Istanbul University, Faculty of Literature, Department of
Turkish Language and Literature, Advanced Teachers School (1959). He became an
assistant in the department he graduated from after having worked as a teacher
of literature at Erzurum High School (1959- 61). His PhD was on Mizancı Murad Bey Hayatı ve Eserleri
(Mizancı Murat Bey Life and Works, 1967). He became an associate professor with
his thesis Reşat Nuri Güntekin'in
Romanlarında Şahıslar Dünyası (World of Characters in the Novels of Reşat
Nuri Güntekin, 1977) and a professor with the presentation of his thesis Jön Türklere Dair Vesikalar I-Edebiyatçı Jön
Türklerin Mektupları” (Documents of the Young Turks I – Letters of the
Young Turk Writers, 1982).
He worked as the
Dean of Van 100. Yıl University, Faculty of Science and Literature (1982- 85)
and academician (1985-87). During these years, he gave lectures on Turkology at
universities in Paris (1963-64) and Warsaw (1982-82). He has worked at Marmara
University, Faculty of Education since 1987. His articles were published in the
reviews İ.Ü. Edebiyat Fakültesi Türk Dili
ve Edebiyatı Dergisi (1963-71), Hisar
(1970-71), Türk Edebiyatı (1984),
Türk Kültürü (1980) and Türkiye Günlüğü.
