Poet and
painter (b. 1913, Görele / Giresun - d. 21 September 1975, İstanbul). He
received primary and elementary education in Trabzon. He studied for two years
at Istanbul Fine Arts Academy (1929-31). When he returned from Paris, where he
had been for two years, he became a faculty member (1933) and then became a
professor there. Eyuboğlu, who founded "D Group” with five of his friends
who had entered the academy with him (Cemal Tollu, Nurullah Berk, Sabri Berkel,
Faik İzer and Zühtü Müridoğlu), was known for his painting as much as his
poetry and received many awards in this field.
He first began to write
his poems in the review Muhit in 1928. Then he chose to follow the
"First New" movement and his work was published in newspapers and
reviews such as Yeni Adım, Tan, Ses, Gün,
İnsan, İşte, Büyük Doğu (1938-44), Varlık
and
Yeditepe. His articles on various subjects were published in the newspaper Cumhuriyet.
He showed great talent in using folklore in his poems, in which can be seen
instantly his efforts to create pictures with words. He became popular with his
poem Karadut (Black Mulberry). He suffered from jaundice but did not
respond to treatment. After his death, he was chosen as the Artist of Year in
1976 by the review Milliyet Sanat. He is buried in Küçükyalı Graveyard.
