Poet (b. 20 October 1936, Niksar /
Tokat). He is the brother of famous novelist Cemalettin Aykın. He attended
Niksar Albayrak Primary School (1948), Haydarpaşa High School (1954) and
graduated from Selimiye Veterinary Health Profession High School (1957). He
served as a veterinary health technician in many cities of Turkey such as
Zonguldak, Milas, Ağın, Keban, Elazığ, Ermenek, Kulu and İstanbul. In 1970, he
began to work as the South East and East representative to the Eczacıbaşı
Medicine Factory in Adana, Malatya, Konya and Kayseri. He finally worked as the
Marmara Regional representative in İstanbul and then retired in 1992.
His first poem (Bir Başka Şarkı-Another Song) was published in the
review İmece (no: 18) on 18 October 1962. His later works were published
in the reviews Hakimiyet Sanat ile Edebiyat Cephesi, Türkiye Yazıları,
Dönemeç, Türk Dili, Yapıt, Su, Ekin, Varlık, Karşı, Kıyı, Atika, Berfin, Türk
Dili Şairin Atölyesi, Şiir Ülkesi, Güzel Yazılar (member of the editorial
board). He collected the Yaşar Nabi Award in 1984 with his book Gecede
Söylenen Türküler (Songs Sang at Night). Some of his poems were set
to music by Ferhat Tunç, Group Çağrı and Cebrail Kalın. He is a member of the
Writers Syndicate of Turkey, Turkey PEN Writers Association, the Turkish
Authors Association, and the Turkish Language Society.
