Journalist and writer (b. 1944, Ankara). She is the daughter of the former Democrat Party deputy Muammer Çavuşoğlu and the wife of former owner of the newspapers Halka and Olaylara Tercüman, Kemal Ilıcak. She graduated from Notre Dame de Sion Private French High School for Girls (1963). She received higher education at Lausanne School of Politics and Social Sciences. She was the owner of the newspaper Bulvar, which was closed in 1988. She worked as an editorial writer and columnist for the newspapers Tercüman and Akşam. She began her career in television in 1991 with the program Söz Meclisten İçeri (Concerns Everybody Listening). Later she presented a talk show called Ah Bir Kahve Olsa (Wish We Had Some Coffee Here) on Channel D, then a debate program that she prepared for Channel 6 and also worked as the director and anchorperson of the program Sözün Özü for two years on Channel 6.

Nazlı Ilıcak also studied and researched contemporary political history. She worked as the secretary general of Foundation of Political and Social Researches. She proved herself to be one of the bravest authors of the 28 February Process. She joined the ranks of the Virtue Party that was founded due to the closure of the Welfare Party and was elected a parliamentary deputy of this party for İstanbul in the 18 April 1999 general elections. On 22 June 2001, on the closure of the Virtue Party she was dismissed as a deputy and was banned from politics for five years. Because she was banned, her husband, Emin Şirin was elected as the deputy of İstanbul for the Justice and Development Party instead of her. A short while after Emin Şirin was elected, she resigned from her party.

She worked as a columnist in the newspaper Yeni Şafak from the foundation years of the Virtue Party until 2002. She began to write in the newspaper Tercüman that she published with her son, Mehmet Ali Ilıcak. Nazlı Ilıcak, who has been a member of the Journalist Association’s Administrative Staff and a member of the Press Council Higher Committee, carries a press honor card. The first Journalists Association Freedom of the Press Award was given to her for her contributions to democracy.
